A new contemporary home built on a narrow section within an alpine lake environment. The brief required a home for a retired couple with additional accommodation for family and friends in the upper storey.
The form is sculpted by the nature of the site and brief; carved spaces to the north allowing for covered exterior areas , stepped out openings to benefit the spectacular lake views from within intimate spaces and a courtyard to offer an alternative exterior living space protected from the frequent winds.
Construction uses SIPs panels for the walls and roof to create a thermally advanced structure. Timber cladding has been selected for its durability and timelessness in this environment of extremes.
