AIT BEN HADDOU
Architecture, Interiors and Brand Development.
This project aims to put Ait Ben Haddou on the map as a destination to stay a number of days.
Inspired by the traditional architecture of this UNESCO World heritage site, and harnessing the skills of local artisans and their products, the building will showcase the Berber heritage in a contemporary light. The first stage recycles and renovates an existing structure, reworking public and private connections and maximising vistas from its advantageous location. The creation of a 14 room hotel and a roof top restaurant will bring a welcome addition to the small town. The second stage will add additional structures in local earth construction to form a retail space - showcasing the talent of the local artisans, a café, and a Hammam -for both the village and visitors, a pool in a lush garden, and an artist’s residence to encourage visitors of a different calibre.
